By now I have been a bit more active in the photography field for about 3 years. At one point I just decided to buy my first DSLR (entry level Canon EOS 1300D) and see how it actually works for me. And as it turns out the world of photography is rich in so many ways. There is just something very special about capturing a moment from an interesting perspective and sharing it with others. I have mainly photographed landscapes and architecture although I have tried a lot of other things as well. At every given moment I have a list of different things I want to try out. Different techniques, places, angles, compositions, people, animals, weather and so on. I think and hope that this list will never end because this is one of the main reasons why I love photography- always trying out something new.
As with most of the things in life there are times when I cannot keep my hands of the camera and also times where it’s just waiting for me in the cupboard. Which is also yet another reason why I like it. There are no limitations, whenever you want you can grab the camera and capture something special. Even if sometimes the end result is not what you expected you still gain experience and you can always enjoy the process itself.
A while ago I had a really memorable moment when I went to one of many beautiful bogs we have here in Estonia to enjoy the sunrise, blissful silence and the magnificent nature around me. It had just freshly been snowing and it felt like walking around in a fairytale. Going there without a camera is truly amazing by itself but a possibility to capture it gives an extra meaning and excitedness to it.
So now coming to the the caption of this post I finally decided to get myself a new camera. I still believe that photography is more an art than just getting the best technical equipment possible but you still need a proper tool to create the art. Canon EOS 77D is a really decent camera for an amateur photographer and since it’s not a new model anymore the price has dropped to a really reasonable level. Although it’s not the latest model it’s still packed with awesome set of features that allow you to live out your creativity. Maybe someday I will buy a pro camera (which are 3000USD+) but at the moment I see no need for this.
After the first month of usage and quite many photos taken I can easily recommend this camera to everyone who would also like to get in the world of photography but don’t want the very basic nor the pro models. Or if you just feel like it’s time to renew your old camera.
You can see more information about it or you can buy it from here

All the Best!
I have really missed writing these blog posts and yet for the past 10 months I haven’t written any :). Seems controversal but that’s how life is sometimes. I do have written down several topics and ideas about what I’d like to share my ideas about, now it’s just time to start writing :).
The main “kick” for starting a blog was (as I have mentioned in the first posts) our journey through SE Asia. Most of the content was about our trip with some posts on various subjects and I was quite surprised to see that now, nearly 1 year after our trip, there are still several hundred visitors reading the posts every month. Quite often I find myself thinking about different adventures we had during our travels and as said before I/we definitely want to go back to Thailand at some point but now life has made room for a lot of new challenges. In one of my last posts in April I briefly mentioned taking up a new job so to say. Well, that chapter is currently finding an end in some sense at least. But what a journey it was! There will be a separate post about it for sure.
Meanwhile our dog, Triksi, is already a year and 3 months old. I can honestly say that having a dog was extremely awesome already in the beginning but it just goes even better and better by the day :). Once again, I will write about our adventures in separate posts.
Generally I have learned so much in these pasts 10 months so I don’t even know where to start. There have been many things going on and a lot of plans for the rest of the year to come :).
I also made a new logo for my blog. I was out one night a few weeks ago trying out once again a new experiment photography wise – steel wool photography and one of the pictures just caught my attention. So I modified it a bit and voila! I now have an official logo :)!
If you’re wondering this is the photo where the logo came from
Be sure to check out my photography Instagram, there have been a lot of additions :). You can find it https://www.instagram.com/lauriaarop.photography/ or just at the left of by blog.
That’s it for this time! See you (not literally but as a figure of speech 🙂 ) already tomorrow!
All the best!
Last year I discovered a great site where you can upload your photos and take part in different competitions. There are many different topics and new challenges are being added constantly. Although there are prizes for only the very top photographers you can still earn votes from professionals and hobbyists from all over the world, see how other people react to your photos and get many new ideas about what to add to your own portfolio. They also share many great galleries and articles and offer an opportunity to get picked to be presented on one of many exhibitions being held all over the world. There is also a ranking system – the more votes you get and the better spots you take in the challenges, the more benefits you have. Otherwise the site is completely free to use. If you’d like to share your photos with others along with getting some extra excitement while taking part in a competition or you’d just like to enjoy the many masterpieces Gurushots offer, this site is definitely for you! Go and check it out for yourself!
Several years ago I made a quick website for my photos using the easy and simple Wix platform. Now I decided to update it a bit. I really like how easy it is to built a website there without any coding knowledge. Of course there are dozens of similar sites but for some reason it caught my attention.
Most of all I like to capture nature and the magnificent, majestic and interesting sights it has to offer. That is seconded by architecture and all the unique forms and figures you can find hidden everywhere. And basically everything else in between :). There are just some days I feel like taking a camera and going out to explore and discover! I hope you can also find some pictures to enjoy and savor the moment!
I’ve now been into photography for slightly over 2 years and I’ve managed to take quite many photos during this time. Yesterday I was going through them in order to prepare pictures for upload. There are some sites besides FB and Instagram to where I occasionally upload my photos for viewing and selling purposes. The latter is currently in a very miniature form but still, I like taking photos and also sharing them with the world :). Either way I decided to post some of my own favorite moments I’ve captured. Hope you’ll enjoy :)!
I love taking photos and I also love Photoshop. And I like lot of photographs that have been edited in Photoshop but there still nothing comparable with a photo that has this wow effect and you’re never going to believe that moment actually existed in real life. Here are a few links to some of the best collections in my opinion:
I just love what this guy and others like him manage to create using just a camera, different light sources and darkness as their loyal friend. I have also tried this technique but I still have a lot to learn. I hope that some day I will be as good as he is. I strongly believe that photography is art, not technology. Just enjoy :)!
A couple of years ago I found myself for the first time walking around and taking pictures with a decent DSLR camera. Never before I had any interest in photography as such (besides just taking random photos with my smartphone). But that day something changed and from that point my passion for taking photos has just grown. I have taken several online courses (huge thanks to my lovely girlfriend Anna who made me a gift, my first photography course) since then and finally in the beginning of this year bought myself my personal Canon DSLR camera. I will definitely share my thoughts about this journey that I’ve had in in the world of photography in the future posts but at the moment I’d just like to share my photography Instagram with you. Don’t forget to follow if you like what you see:)!
