Why on earth do you need puzzles :)?

And by puzzles I mean these jigsaw puzzles where you have hundreds or even thousands of little pieces that you need to combine together into a big picture. But there’s a great substitute if you’re looking for something different – buy a new piece of furniture :). We bought a new bed for ourselves and as usual it arrived in lots of small cardboard boxes. Luckily there were proper instructions included and all the parts were there. But in total (if to count all nuts and bolts) there was 461! pieces and 48 unique ones. After several hours and one beer I managed to put it all together and the end result is quite nice but it’s funny how they manage to disassemble something to so many different parts :).

It always reminds me of a funny picture about IKEA Christmas Tree that usually goes around in Christmas time. Just for clarification we didn’t buy our bed from there but it’s probably the case in most of the companies :).

Everyone has their 10-year old still inside :)

Yesterday we went to see Pacific Rim: Uprising. Huge robots fighting other huge robots fighting huge alien monsters :). It sounds like a 10-year old boy’s dream, doesn’t it :). I remember when I was a kid I loved to play with different transformer-type robots and monsters. And that 10-year old is still alive inside of us, you know I’m right :). Of course I think this applies a bit more to men (we have those 5-year old’s and 12 year old’s as well) but still!

The movie itself should not to be considered as something serious nor it’s trying to be. It looks like they had their bit of fun directing and acting and that’s exactly how it should be in case of these kind of movies. I admit, that I enjoyed the first Pacific Rim a bit more (in most cases the first movie is always the best) but it’s still a solid good entertainment! Definitely it’s not a film for everyone but if you just want to laugh and feel like a kid again you should consider it!

I also really enjoy the clip Honest Trailers has made of this movie, you should definitely go and check it out plus I highly recommend seeing other videos they have to offer!

My IMDB ratings list + some of my favorite films

IMDB is a great site. Not all, but most of the time you can get an adequate sense of how good the movie is based on ratings and comments. Once again there are many similar sites but when I want to get an overview of a film I usually turn to IMDB. A while ago I decided to start rating the movies I’ve watched. I’m not a huge movie maniac but quite often I like to enjoy this kind of entertainment. I think my favorite genre is Sci-Fi but there are many factors based on which I pick a movie. In addition to the ratings mentioned above recommendations, current mood and many other things also play their part.

In the list I’ve rated movies that I’ve seen in the last year + some that just popped into my mind (that I’ve seen before) or some that are just my favorites. About the latter here are some movies that based on current moment I think are a definite must watch! You can see my whole list in here.

Gladiator – I think it’s my favorite movie of all time. Awesome screenplay, actors, story, soundtrack, effects and there is really nothing not to like about it in my opinion!

Shawshank redemption – I think you can consider this already as a classic, no words needed. Being on number 1 spot in IMDB overall rating speaks for itself!

Interstellar – the ending will hurt your brain but after the movie I went to pub with a friend of mine and discussed the film and all subjects it affected for several hours! And these kind of movies I like!

Inception –  it might by difficult to grasp on first viewing but everything is laid out just perfectly!

Arrival – once again one of those movies that makes you think about what we really know and how much is there yet to discover!

Schindler’s List – a superb story of a horrific moment in human history.

Lion – for some reason this movie really stuck on me. The main character’s desire to find his family was really felt and I could relate with it.

Passengers – in some way this movies was not the perfect one but I really like the idea they had, how they built on it and how they executed!

First Lord of the Rings – it was just magnificent but in my opinion none of the sequels really lived up to the first part.

The Matrix – something really out of this world.. or perhaps this is exactly the world we’re living in 🙂

These are only a fraction of the great movies out there and naming all of them in here just wouldn’t make sense. And I probably wouldn’t remember all of them in a first go :). But if you haven’t seen some of the movies mentioned above or higher in my ratings list I strongly advice to check them out :)!

All the best!

Unleash The Power Within

2 years ago I went to an astonishing event called Unleash The Power Within based in London. It’s a 4-day training program which is aimed to bring out the best in you and as the name says to unleash your inner potential. It’s held by Anthony Robbins and his team. I don’t know how many of you have heard of him but he’s at the very top in the world in career-, self-improvement and life coaching.

These 4 days were full of extreme action – group discussions, different tasks, lectures, finding new friends, jumping, self-reflection and even walking on hot coals :). In order to receive and process all the new information gained the energy level was kept very high with frequent exercises, loud music and dancing. All in all it was like a 4 day party but during which you found out a lot about yourself, what is keeping you back and how should you change your thinking. Usually the day started about 8-9 AM and lasted almost until midnight plus the hall was filled with 8000 people so it was quite an experience! I would highly recommend to visit this event and I’ll definitely go back at one point. There are several similar trainings being held all over the world, not only in London.

I have a entire book full of different notes I made during the training but I also put together a small presentation with mostly some keywords but still some valuable information and ideas to be noted of. Every once in while a go through it reminding myself everything I learned there. I hope you find value in it :)! Feel free to ask if you have any questions!

A happy life with a cat and a puppy

It’s now been a week since we have our 5 year old cat and our 3 months old puppy living together under our roof. At first we were scared that our huge 7kg cat would do something to the puppy but unfortunately that hasn’t been the case :). At first he was actually scared of her but by now he’s just looking at her like some sort of crazy Duracell bunny, only occasionally raising his paws to give a few kung-fu strikes. But they are playful, not angry :). Triksi just wants to play with him so much, but Sipsik is most of the time just sitting still like a Sphinx statue. Honestly – if perhaps you can imagine what is going on in your puppy’s or dog’s head then in case of cats it’s just impossible to comprehend what they are thinking about. I think there’s a good explanation for this 🙂

In addition, being a puppy as she is, it’s quite difficult to leave her unattended even for a little while (except when she’s sleeping). Only within moments you can see your socks, slippers, shirt, towel and anything else that you leave lying around being dragged away by a little ball of fur :). At first few days she was pretty scared but now she’s already used to her new place of living and her family so each day is a new opportunity to discover the world, chew new things and just be awesome :)!

It’s just unbelievable how much happiness they bring even if sometimes your home feels like a war-ground and a kindergarten at the same time. Even right now while I’m writing this post I have Triksi sleeping in my lap (yes, it’s rather difficult to type 🙂 ) and Sipsik sitting on the window sill gazing at the world outside. Feels good 🙂

What changed in my thinking during our trip

All of this what I’ve written below is what I already thought and believed before our trip. But during this time some things in these areas just got much clearer and intensified. Here are some things to be brought out:

The World is a huge place

First and foremost I understood that the world is much bigger then it might seem during our everyday lives. Although people nowadays live quite a busy lifestyle traveling from one place to another during a week or even during a single day, we are still quite often limited to our so to say circle. Getting out of it is quite refreshing, especially if you go to a totally different environment. Of course it’s nothing new, I knew it before but actually living the experience is much different then seeing it through a screen.

The World is a tiny place

Contrary to the first point, from another perspective the world is quite small. And it’s mostly due to the different technologies we have developed lately (lately compared to the history of mankind). Within a reasonable amount of hours you can get from one side of the globe to the other, from a winter wonderland to a tropical forest. And thanks to the internet you are still connected to everyone within a matter of milliseconds, just like being back home. I think that sometimes we really forget to appreciate this opportunity to be able to connect with anyone instantly. Remember that next time when you don’t get an answer through a messenger within a minute 🙂

Culture and religion can vary hugely

Coming from Estonia, the least religious country in the world, it really takes some time to consider religion as a separate topic since in here it’s really not a topic at all. But in many and actually most of the places it is. It’s really interesting to see how the religion affects and forms societies in different parts of the world. And the cultural differences can be quite different also. Some things that are considered as totally normal may seem weird to us and vice versa. That is the case towards animals likewise and to be quite honest we really didn’t like how some people acted towards cats, dogs, monkeys, turtles and many other animals in some areas. I know that these kind of people are to be found everywhere but in some places the situation is truly awful!

We need to do something with all this garbage, especially plastics!

I’m proud to say that everything in Estonia is quite clean. Streets, alleys, forests, seas and so on. Especially after a very noteworthy cleaning project called Teeme Ära. It’s basically a once a year countrywide cleaning event. But the picture in SE Asia and many other parts of the world is quite different. There are just tons and tons of plastic waste and other debris in the ocean, littered on the streets and also everywhere in the nature. I know that in some places they are trying to clean it up but currently it’s being done in a much slower rate compared to how new waste is dumped to the oceans and nature. I really didn’t like how they were packing basically each individual item to a separate plastic bag in grocery stores and whenever possible we declined them. Recycle and reuse! It’s not that difficult once you get it to be a habit!

Chasing material things will bring no happiness

Many people in SE Asia don’t have much. But most of them seem really happy because they have learned how to value and appreciate what they do have and especially people around them. Family, friends, relatives and so on. Don’t get me wrong, I believe that you have to have some material things like a decent place to live, a method of getting around, proper clothes and so on. You don’t have to be a monk living in a monastery. But chasing material things itself won’t bring you happiness. I think that through some of those things you can get a moments of happiness but you mustn’t get into the loop of “wanting”. If you do that then you’ll just want another one or a new one or a bigger one and so on. It might not be bad since it thrives you onwards, makes you make an effort but if you forget to appreciate what you already have it only brings you frustration. So always set your goals for moving forwards but don’t forget to be grateful for what you already have! And share it with other people because in the end it doesn’t matter who has the most things but who has the most loving people around them and many magic moments through which they are connected!

If you really want it, you can get it!

In some sense I believe in the law of attraction, that everything is connected somehow. Because in the deepest level we are all made of the same stuff and energy. And if you truly want something and believe in it you will send out vibrations by which you will get what you want. You just have to be specific, get the ideas to your subconscious mind and have an effort towards them. “Learn from Yesterday, Live for Today, Hope for Tomorrow”

My Wix photography website

Several years ago I made a quick website for my photos using the easy and simple Wix platform. Now I decided to update it a bit. I really like how easy it is to built a website there without any coding knowledge. Of course there are dozens of similar sites but for some reason it caught my attention.

Most of all I like to capture nature and the magnificent, majestic and interesting sights it has to offer. That is seconded by architecture and all the unique forms and figures you can find hidden everywhere. And basically everything else in between :). There are just some days I feel like taking a camera and going out to explore and discover! I hope you can also find some pictures to enjoy and savor the moment!
